On May 25th 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect across the EU. It is a new law that has been implemented in exactly the same way across all EU countries to create a level set of rules to ensure all data held and processed by organisations within the EU is secure and is processed lawfully.
You will no doubt have received communications from all kinds of businesses, including any you shop or bank with, so this may be something you are already aware of.
Public organisations, including schools, are required to comply with GDPR in the same way. At Jump Primary School, we would like to reassure you that we have been working on our GDPR readiness over the last year and are compliant with GDPR.
Jump Primary School has always highly valued and protected all of its pupil, parent/carer and staff information - and will continue to do so now the GDPR legislation has been enacted.
Jump Primary School already has strong Data Protection policies and protections in place, and these have been updated and reviewed by the governing body in line with GDPR. This means that the school website has been updated with improved policies (for example Data Protection, ESafety, Consent) and you will have already received information about our updated privacy notices.
Parent/Carers will continue to receive letters or updates from the schools regarding GDPR, and some of those may be about consent and some about updating your information with us.
It is really important that you read, and respond promptly, to any correspondence from school on this matter.
Jump Primary School has a designated Data Protection Officer (DPO), who is helping to guide the school and works to ensure full compliance with GDPR. The DPO can be contacted with any queries using the following email address or in writing to our school:
