History

Each of our historial enquiries has been designed to engage and excite the children. We follow the Connected History scheme of work in Years 1 - 6 with Nursery and Reception children answering 'I wonder' questions.

Our children learn about places, people and events in the past, in Britain, Europe and the wider world. As the children progress through school, we intend to deepen their historical knowledge, with particular focus on the history of empire, civilisation, culture, invasion and the actions of significant individuals.  The children will learn and develop the skills necessary to conduct an enquiry.  We provide opportunities for children to visit museums, to learn from people with expert knowledge of their enquiry and to investigate interesting artefacts.

Our intent is to excite a love of the subject within our children, to provide them with key knowledge about the past and to develop their critical thinking skills, transferable to other disciplines.
