Week beginning 23rd September 2019

Meet our new Junior Road Safety Officers for 2019-20! They will be working hard to keep everyone safe on the roads for the next year! Look out for some competitions, assemblies and information coming from them soon. 

Reception have been on a 'Bear Hunt' in the school grounds this week. They had great fun! 

                  

                  

                  

  

Children from Year 3 and 4 have been representing the school this afternoon at a local cross country event. They did really well (in the terrible weather!). The girls came second and the boys came fourth out of nine schools. Well done everyone! 

Thank you to everyone who helped us raise a fantastic amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Care. Thanks to your generosity, we raised £205.72. Huge thanks to everyone. 

Our Science Ambassadors from Year 5 have been busy visiting each class in Key Stage 2 this week to show them all about how to make lava lamps using water, food colouring, vegetable oil and effervescent vitamin tablets! 

                 

  

  

Things to look out for next week...

Year 4 are visiting Kirk Balk for a science lesson. 

The school football team (A team and B team) will be playing a league match at a local school. 

Week beginning 16th September 2019

Children from Year 1 and 2 represented the school at a local cross country event today.The boys came fifth and the girls came third. Again, there were nine schools competing so they did really well. Well done everyone and we hope you enjoyed it! 

Year 5 have been busy creating some whole class collages of the Earth, Sun and Moon linked to their topic.

  

  

  

  

Year 3 had a visit from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service this week to learn more about how to keep safe in case of a fire.

Year 6 enjoyed their karate session this week - they will having these lessons every week until Christmas. 

  

  

We had a very special assembly this week where a Tyler in Year 5, received his tie as he has been selected to represent Barnsley and District Schools Football Association in the forthcoming season following extensive trials since June. He is the only Year 5 across the whole of Barnsley to be picked! We are all so very proud of Tyler and are happy that his family were able to join us in the assembly to see him. We will be following you closely Tyler - we are sure we will hear great things every week! 

Year 4 have been busy making circuits as part of their work on electricity. 

   

   

   

Things to look out for next week....

A reminder that we have our coffee morning for Macmillan on Tuesday 2.30pm until 4pm in the dining room (Children are able to join you after school has finished).

Week beginning 9th September 2019

Children from Year 5 and 6 represented the school at a local cross country event today.The boys came third and the girls came second. There were nine schools competing so they did really well with only one or two points separating them from the top spot. Well done everyone! 

Mr Townsend has returned to teach music to Year 2 this term (he will be teaching Year 1 and Reception during the other 2 terms in the year). Below are some photos of the children singing and playing the boomwhackers.                                

            

Year 5 have been looking at Esafety within their ICT lessons and below is a poster they made to help keep people safe online. Well done! 

Year 5 have also been busy building the different parts of the space shuttle with their crew (this is preparation for their writing 'A Mission to Zycron'). 

        

        

        

         

Our new School Council members who were elected last week met for the first time today. They have already got great ideas and we look forward to seeing what they decide to do to improve the school over the coming year.

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely summer.

Children have been spending the week completing 'getting to know you' activities, electing school council members, learning the rules and routines of their classroom etc. We hope they have all enjoyed their first week back! 

Mr Parkes organised a cross country competition in school today for Years 1-6. Everyone enjoyed it and the rain held off too!
