PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic education builds the essential skills for pupils to become responsible citizens and form good relationships both now and in their future lives. At Jump Primary we feel these skills are crucial and underpin all aspects of school life and our learning. Therefore it forms a key part of our curriculum offer in school as well as threading through our culture and ethos.

Through our 1 decision PSHE curriculum children explore various  themes ( please see progression map below) which enable them to develop skills to adopt  healthy lifestyles , develop economic awareness and forge responsible and respectful relationships.

In addition pupils also complete project Blurt, a mental health awareness and resilience program which also supports pupils in developing social and emotional skills. We also teach the importance of good mental health through whole school initiatives. These focus around children's and adult's mental health weeks and charitable events.

We feel that the development of personal qualities is very important. We model this with our relationships within school, by encouraging children to work together, by encouraging them to care and be responsible for others and the environment. We foster a culture  of honesty, tolerance, consideration and truthfulness both through our direct teaching of PSHE and through our behavior and safeguarding  policies promoting a safe and tolerant culture , ethos and expectations.

Through our whole school "Smart School Council" all pupils have an active voice in decisions that effect their everyday lives in our school community.
